ÉclosionAndré Masson — c. 1960–1969 · ACL-018A founding figure of Surrealism, André Masson approached sculpture only occasionally, in short casts that are sought after today. Éclosion belongs to his vein of metamorphosis: an organic mass opening like a bud or a chrysalis, all tormented surface and contained energy. The first lost-wax cast at Valsuani, in an edition of only six, makes it a rare landmark in his sculpted work.
